From f16e6945854a2654b0675d86374f5ab1736b1b41 Mon Sep 17 00:00:00 2001 From: Adam Soltys Date: Fri, 9 Oct 2026 13:41:19 -0700 Subject: Videos grid: a tile without a still of its own shows the server's (vmedia thumb.jpg) at once — about a second the first time anyone asks for that clip, a CDN hit after — instead of waiting on the browser's probe (64 KB) and frame grab (≈1 MB of the clip, decoded) per tile, which on a phone left most of the grid as empty boxes. The frame grab still runs for a clip the server had no picture for. A known-heavy clip wears its size badge over the still. vmedia makes 8 stills at once (was 4). tools/video-tile-poster-test.js MIME-Version: 1.0 Content-Type: text/plain; charset=UTF-8 Content-Transfer-Encoding: 8bit Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 Claude-Session: https://claude.ai/code/session_01Vps2H27rhbG9ZqseGfMrc3 --- vmedia/server.js | 2 +- 1 file changed, 1 insertion(+), 1 deletion(-) diff --git a/vmedia/server.js b/vmedia/server.js index d1b7a8a..bf92c6b 100644 --- a/vmedia/server.js +++ b/vmedia/server.js @@ -22,7 +22,7 @@ const DATA = process.env.DATA || '/data'; const THUMBS = DATA + '/thumbs', CLIPS = DATA + '/h264', WORK = DATA + '/work'; for (const d of [THUMBS, CLIPS, WORK]) mkdirSync(d, { recursive: true }); const THUMB_CAP = 2e9, CLIP_CAP = 25e9; -const THUMB_JOBS = 4, CLIP_JOBS = 2, CLIP_QUEUE = 6; +const THUMB_JOBS = 8, CLIP_JOBS = 2, CLIP_QUEUE = 6; const CLIP_PER_HOUR = 12; // new transcodes per address const MAX_SECONDS = 900; const FAIL_TTL = 3_600_000; -- cgit v1.2.3
