Videos grid: a clip opens sooner. Its host is connected to ahead (a preconnect for the grid's clip hosts: the first clip from a host took 1.8 s on Adam's phone, 0.65 s once connected), and the player starts loading when the finger comes down on the tile; the pager adopts that very element, so the load overlaps the tap and the pager's opening. A press with no tap after it lets its player go. (feed-media-views test: the Live chip, and the warm next/kept previous players.)
